Seems so long ago

There used to be a time when this type of thing would just make me salivate. The rush, the sheer balls needed to engage the slope. All of the adrenaline pumping through your veins mixed with the fear of your life.
That all seems like a long time ago now. I look back on it not with envy but with a sense of satisfaction. I had my fun, now there’s other fun to be had.

Yesterday I went to the Brussels Roller event for the first time this summer. As usual, a couple thousand people showed up, the music was pumping out the speakers of a few stereos, and the atmosphere was relaxed. Leaving from the palace of justice to go down to the “Bois de la Cambre” and then making its way back towards the Brussels stock market, does take a healthy toll. It’s worth every minute though when you see that human tide blocking all traffic as they go down the main arteries of town. An impressive sight, especially if you were one of the unlucky punters stuck in a car. (That was me two weeks earlier btw.)
You’ll definitely see me there again over the next few weeks so if you drop me a line we can hook up.
