Time Scaled Resource Data Exporter
Did you ever need to analyze resource based time scaled information? Have you noticed that the “Analyze Timescaled Data In Excel” add-in, which ships with Microsoft Project, only provides task-based exports? If this sounds familiar then the “Time Scaled Resource Data Exporter” may be the solution for you.
Based on the original script by Jack Dahlgren (Ms. Project MVP) this tool provides you with an easy to use interface to export your the timescaled data of your project’s resources.
Features:
- Allows you to pick your date range for the export
- Exports resource-based time scaled data ready for analysis using pivot or regular tables
- Allows you to choose from several data types such as “Availability to work”, “Work Assigned”, “Remaining Availability”, “Percent Allocation” or “Overallocation”.
- Allows you to choose the size of the time units to export.
- Enables you to pick whether you want to export hours or FTE equivalents data
- Allows you to include up to 70 commonly used fields from the resource table in the export.
- Provides support custom field names
- New: The installer allows you to pick to which project file the tool should be installed to if you don’t want it available globally.
Requirements
You should have a copy of Microsoft Project and Microsoft Excel. The tool has been tested on Ms. Office 2003.
Installation
Make sure you have Macros Enabled when opening the MPP file. From thereon out the installer will guide you through the installation. As of version 1.6 you now have the option to choose a fully automated or manual installation. Whichever you choose, the installer will guide you through the process.
Change Log
- 1.0 first build
- 1.1 changed from DTPicker to PjCalendar Control. I have resorted to using PjCalendar to ease distribution as the DTPicker control may not be installed/registered on client machines.
- 1.2 All CheckBox names within the MultiPage control are broken down programmatically to figure out what PjField they correspond to. All CheckBoxes names under the pgsOptionalFields object must now adhere to the following naming convetion: “chkBox” + PjField + “Field”
- 1.3 Minor excel formatting enhancements. Pivot table output optimized.
- 1.4 Excel row and column limits handling added Excel worksheet name length limit handling added. Validate “From” and “To” dates.
- 1.5 Added an Export progress meter. Ensured that if an error occurs control of Excel is returned to user. Ensured users could not enter invalid data in combo boxes
- 1.6 Rewrite of the installer scripts. The tool itself was not touched
- No trackbacks yet.
